Brookings Monument Co. has been located at its current location, 507 Main Ave., for over 50 years. The previous building sat in the same location and was one of the original buildings on an old farmstead. In the early 1980s, a renovation added an extensive showroom to display many of our memorial offerings.
Brookings Monument Co. was started by Basil Atkins, a long time Brookings area resident. The company was later purchased by Sioux Falls Monument Co. and was eventually acquired by Watertown Monument Company.
Over the years, thousands of monuments and markers have been designed, sold, and set in area cemeteries in South Dakota as well as North Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. We have a strong customer following from customers across the United States with family roots in our territory. We have been involved with the design, production, and installation of several veterans memorials. The largest is the Brookings Veterans Memorial located on West 6th St. in Brookings. It honors all branches of military service. We have been involved in ordering and setting veterans bronze and granite, bronze sign and plaques, along with markers for many years.
Brookings Monument Co. carries a wide selection of styles, sizes, and colors of memorials to choose from. We also have a photo library of monuments, markers, veteran memorials, signs and special projects we have done over the years. This helps our customers not only see what we have done, but also helps with ideas for their personal memorial and tribute.
